Mark Henning delivers an assured quadruple tracker for Poker Flat with his ‘Pusher EP’. The title track bounces like a basketball on an NBA court – it shoots, it scores with pitter patter rainfall rides and a looped spoken vocal. ‘Swingers’ is another spoken word rib-poker that’s tangfastically acidic, naggingly repetitive and fiercely bubbling. Triple 13 is all about the tribal drumming circle, it’s dark, insistent and has enough floating atmospherics to lift Lazarus from his grave. Satin is slower and sexier, writhing on its reverbed melody and bass line like a well practised pole-dancer on a promise for a Very Big Tip. All equally powerful, pick your favourite favourite.
