Welcome to ’Simon Baker Presents Baker Project’, the bespoke label cut for Simon Baker releases but with other artists planned to appear further down the chugging, jacking, jack booted techno line. ‘Ebony’ is a clicky zip through 808 land. Add some quirky vocals, organ stabs and a thudding, rolling kick and you know your house will be jacking whilst wearing hob nailed boots. My favourite, ‘Flirt’ blends a cheeky, pitched and thrummed for maximum tickle and squirt effect bassline, then adds some barely audible muffled vocals sp you can fully benefit from its disco tease. ‘Buff’ is a snipped vocal ad lib work out that’s at once deep and cavernous, then scratching for air like someone who has been buried alive with the hi-hats at the top. It’s a walk on the dark side.
