There’s something so compelling going on within Gino G’s striking original version of ‘Baby Boom’ that the three remixes don’t quite come close. Although, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what that, special something, precisely is. Sounding distinctly individual has a lot do with it as strange, contrary synths feel hypnotic while the richly treated voices melodically wash over you ably assisted by rumbling basslines and pounding drums, all of which will have you reaching out for the repeat button. Having said that Philipp Ort’s dark, brooding version plus Atrox equally imposing remix with its detuned vocals and gritty pulses explore other avenues most impressively, with Andres Velilla’s brighter take cleverly incorporating the signature synthesizer from the original.
