Simon Garcia delivers two rich and accomplished minimal techno parries for Poker Flat that will kick up enough beach dust and create enough disco dancer club mud to construct a pyramid. ‘Ataraxia’ is sublime yet stomping instrumental hypnosis with a whispered mantra. ‘A Hot Drink In The Desert’ projects a hazy, wavering synth heavy mirage of rolling bamboo hits, burbling brooks, crashing cascades and dark chords. It’s a sneaky builder that teases and torments enough to make you feel like a modern day Tantalus. Inspiring.
