DMCWORLD AWARDS 2016 – Dave Seaman

Tune
Underworld ‘If Rah’ The best thing on the fantastic ‘Barbara Barbara’ album. The boys are back in town.
Album
Petit Noir ‘La Vie Est Belle’ A superb debut from South African producer Yannick Llunga that never left my playlist all year.
Remix
Jonas Rathsman on Booka Shade ‘In White Rooms’ From one of the best remix albums I’ve heard in a long time. Huge!
Best label
Freerange – For their 20th anniversary they outdid themselves with Clavis, Andre Lodemann and Frankey & Sandrino leading the charge.
Best breakthrough label
Diversions – Nicolas Masseyeff & Oxia’s new collaboration with two out of two massive releases so far.
Best Producer
Kölsch – Consistently brilliant throughout the year.
Festival
Burning Man. Another mind bending visit to Planet BM. Life affirming
Music Conference
ADE – No competition.
Radio Show
Lauren Laverne on BBC6 Music. Still brilliant and with Shaun Keaveny and Radcliffe & Maconie either side, 6 Music has daytimes sewn up.
Mainstage DJ
Carl Cox – Not much needs to be said here, The Boss!
Resident DJ
Paul Reynolds – So good to see someone who’s put in the work for many years finally see start to see his just rewards.
Club Space Ibiza
Bowing out in style. Was such a privilege to be part of their final season.
New Studio Equipment/Software
Ableton Push 2 for hardware and Reactor 6 for soft.
Personal highlight of 2016:
That’s a tough one. I’ve had an fantastic year! Headlining the Glade Stage at Glastonbury probably just gets pipped at the post by Lush 20 orchestral gig in Belfast.
Your ambition for 2017…
I’ll settle for repeating the highlights of 2016!!
