STOMPA PHUNK

Stompa Phunk trailer the third single from the Brighton group’s upcoming ‘All Electric’ album with an intriguing mix package [Unfortunately on bleeding CD!]. The first two dub treatments give little clue of the actual song, which appears as a late night studio jam version which unveils it as a major funk hoedown with P-Funk vocals. The two dubs are nothing short of spectacular. First, Brique Rouge’s David Duriez hoists a Temptations-style bassline and starts the funky-house motor to create a hallucinogenic, hypnotic momentum. Then Catskill Records’ Bushy gives it an intoxicating, drugged-out take with tribal-tinged roll courtesy of relentless bongo action, growling bass and disembodied boogie synth. The package is rounded off with Mula’s mix of their previous single ‘Do You Remember That Night’. Brilliantly out on its own.
