It’s a shame we don’t have a category for “Best Sleeve of the Week” at Update for this lovely 10″, as the mysterious Max & Harvey duo would win it hands down, thanks to their pretend library sleeve design (complete with fake labels and stamps). But, it’s the music that counts, first and foremost, and they’ve got that spot on too. “Sleep” is a huge, string-filled lull through the inner pictures of your mind, psychadelic style. Neither pompous nor coma inducing, it’s perfectly paced, with a strong feel for space and texture. “Untitled Dialogue” continues the theme at a similar pace. The kind of music that the phrase ‘cinematic’ was coined for.
