Another month, another release for Superstyledeluxe’s new imprint, Payback Project, sees another new artist, Audit, crave out a solid block of modern funk for your appreciation. Think session musicians from the James Brown era waking up from a coma and laying down some of their funky sheeit over a strange new backing track of digital chunk-funk. Then allowing some studio computer kid to cut it all up and put it back together not entirely in the same order. Splitloop perform remix duties and tighten the whole thing up and give it a polished sheen. Berlin’s Circuit Breaker adds his own Teutonic twist to the proceedings and strips things right back and takes it a little darker and deeper.
