SHARON PHILLIPS
WANT 2 / NEED 2
GI RECORDINGS

Want 2 / Need 2’ from Tobago born Sharon Phillips first surfaced on Germany’s Brickhouse Records, and along with a Trentemoller Remix, it took the cooler clubs by storm last summer, with it’s authentic electro hip house stylings. Well it‚s about to do the rounds again courtesy of GI Recordings, who’ve drafted in man of the moment Switch, as well as new comer Audio Twitch, to add another couple of twists to this very hot package. Switch comes straight in with a glitch 4/4, leading to an elasticised bassline that‚ll turn your hips to liquid. Once he’s got you locked into the fluent groove, he starts dropping sections of cut up vocals, while a buzzing synth starts writhing with the bassline. Leaving you completely hypnotized & seriously blissed out. Audio Twitch round off proceedings with an electro take, which mixes shades of The Yellow Magic Orchestra with complicated funky drum machines, while Robert Troutman robotics bounce off the distant chattering vocals, with a great spooky effect.  Usually when a record gets revamped for a re-release it loses a certain amount of it’s original cool, well Sharon Phillips and ‘Want 2 / Need 2’ has just gone absolutely ice box.
