Something of a titanic teamup afoot as house music’s greatest soul singer joins forces up with the original sonic warriors. It doesn’t disappoint as Robert supplies one of his trademark heart-rending vocals, simple hooks and comes swathed in deep, orchestral strings. Interesting array of mixes: Tiga strips it down over dark drone with electro undertow. That’s okay but Tom Belton turns in a disco-pulsing epic, with strings now Salsouled up and bubbling bass. Timo Garcia and the Cheshire Catz heightens the strings and vocal to dramatic effect. Finally, Henrik Schwarz starts like a free-jazz electronic doodle with broken beats for several minutes, before the tinkling space elements fall away for the 4/4 to enter and steer it off into deepest house heaven. Robert Owens still sends shivers down the spine and it’s intoxicating hearing him against current musical styles.
