Back To Mine with Blazej Malinowski

Blazej Malinowski runs the Inner Tension label as a platform for his productions, collaborations and releases from emerging artists in the scene. He is also the founder of the audio-visual ambient/experimental series Why So Silent?, which hosts events everywhere from Poland to Berlin, Stockholm to Seoul. He has landed on labels like The Gods Planet, Kontrafaktum, Semantica, Silent Season and many more. As his new serene Techno release, ‘Moods Ep’ (incl 747 Remix), drops on Aquaregia Records, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Blazej Malinowski.

Murcof – Remembranza [2005]

This album is always close to my thoughts and I return to it quite often. My feelings towards it have never changed, it is still remarkably beautiful.

Abul Mogard – Above All Dreams [2018]

This is a relatively new album compared to the other selections. Abul Mogard is one of those artists who have impressed me a lot in recent times. This particular album often accompanies me in my headphones during my trips back home after gigs.

Voices From the Lake – Voices From the Lake [2012]

This record, by all-time favourites Donato Dozzy and Neel, blew my mind. It always gives me a sense of peace and comfort.

Claudio PRC – Inner State [2012]

I discovered this record randomly while looking through the records in a vinyl store. I love its deep and conceptual approach to Techno. Back then I did not know that after a few years me and Claudio would become friends and that we would work on music together and perform on the same lineups. Music is truly connecting people. It was from this discovery that I started collecting most of the releases from the Prologue label.

Massive Attack – Mezzanine [1998]

Seemingly an obvious choice, but this release of all the music created by Massive Attack looms closest to me.

Angel (Remastered 2019)

DJ Shadow – Endtroducing [1996]

In the 90s I listened to a lot of Hip Hop music. With this album I found a connection between Hip Hop and electronic music, which influenced me to dive even more into different genres. This release and Shadow’s live performance of ‘In Tune and on Time’ is one of the highlights of music for me.

Tomasz Stańko – Twet [1974]

Tomasz Stańko was always one of my favourite Polish Jazz musicians. This record is always right next to my turntable ready to be played.

Cio D’or – Fluidum III [2020]

Cio has been consistent in her musical path from the beginning and this is what I admire most in artists. All of her music feels very personal to me that is why I go back to it on regular.

Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto – Vrioon [2002]

Just timeless.

Kangding Ray – Stabil [2006]

Like Cio D’or, Kandgding Ray’s music has a very distinct sonic identity. Stabil was the first album when I listened to his music. Soon after, he also made a huge impact on Techno music with his specific approach to sound.

Blazej Malinowski – Moods EP is out now on Aquaregia Records.
