Blaacon is a DJ, producer and composer. He lives in Paris Nord Est and spent some time in England during his teenage years. In his early days, he scratched and produced for an alternative jazz band. He also played techno on the French underground scene. Blaacon’s music is deep, intense and soaring. He released his first tracks on Homerun House records in LA and Grfrecords in Istanbul. He has just released a remix of ‘Blackmoon’ by Newem and a remix of ‘Sunriser’ by the late Torb on Bordel Records. DMCWorld goes back to mine with Blaacon.
Aphex Twin – Window Licker
It’s definitely the perfect song for any hour . I’ve listened to it hundreds of times and each time I notice a different detail. It’s a gem, I’ll never tire of it, the sound always impresses me. The video is a masterpiece of beauty and humour.
Moskow Diskow – Telex (Carl Craig Remix)
This track by French band Telex, created by Marc Moulin, is insane. I love the Carl Craig remix even more, which brings a touch of Detroit. It’s a track I played a lot in the 2000s. I still listen to it at home today.
Marjorie Whylie – Drum Song
The perfect track for a chill Sunday morning at home. I discovered it in Miami on a big sound system facing the ocean. Immediately, I wanted to listen to it again and again. I’m a reggae fan. And this track is a fine tribute to piano the jamaican player Jackie Mittoo.
Laurent Garnier – Crispy Bacon
I’m French. I love techno. I was a teenager in the 2000s, so I’m a fan of Laurent Garnier. I wondered how he created it. What mood he was in when he composed it. It’s dazzling.
Tunnelvisions – Imaja’s Drum (Innelea’s cosmic consciousness)
Dixon introduced me to this track a few years ago. It’s sublime, haunting. It takes its time. It’s a mix of different styles that I like, between new wave dub and house. This track is underrated. Perfect for sunrise.
Marshall Jefferson – Move Your Body
A friend of my sister came back from the States with a double cassette of Chicago house classics. I was 10 and it was introduction to Chicago House music. I used to be the weirdo of the school party when I wanted to put this on.
Mr James Barth & AD – Suckin’ Neck
In 1998 DJ Sven Vath played this record at a rave. The crowd went wild. There was no Shazam back then. I went crazy when I found the record a few months later. I still like to play this vinyl at home and mix it with some other good records from this era.
Bicep – Opal (FourTet Remix)
Trippy, straight, with a climb just the way we like it. I like both of these artists, Bicep that I saw in live recently, and I follow the work of Fourtet from the 2000’s.
Soul Of Mischief
Solar, trippy hip hop. It’s sublime. I listened to it during my high school years while smoking joints. Today, I still listen to it, without the joints. It brings sunshine to a rainy Parisian afternoon.
Fine Young Cannibals – Johnny Come Home / (Extented Mix)
Summer ’85, pop hit You drive me crazy played on every radio station in the world. Years later, while digging on fleamarket, I discovered this track and this extended Johnny version that changed my mind about this band. The intro with the strings is crazy. House party or rom diner. This gem lends itself to all occasions.
