Another couple of diggers favourites uncovered and dusted down by the Licorice Soul crew. Both tracks are produced by Jack Price, the man largely credited with crossing reggae over to mainstream audiences during the late 60’s / early 70’s. Brother Lloyd’s All Stars takes the classic Otis Redding “Tramp” away from The Mohawks spotlight of the time, giving that bruising hammond sound a rougher twist with big drums and an impossible to resist skank from the outset. Jumbo Sterling All Stars allows Price to experiment with reggae, funk and pop for something altogether funky and unique. Two classic pieces of British funk, back-to-back. Required purchase!
