I first encountered Carl at Ralph Lawson’s Leeds farmhouse which spawned 20:20 Vision. As that was after a session with the Basics crew it was only later, when I started running into vinyl bearing his name under aliases such as Random Factor and Silicon Sally, that I really started to appreciate what a talented studio hound this bloke was. Knowledgable but up to the minute with a glorious flair for deepness and melody. Here he is under his own name with three tracks of luscious deep house. The title cut boasts bottomless riffs and counter-melodies. ‘Reprise’ is lowslung and minimal, while ‘Fast Lane’ spurts lush chords and electro-boogie touches with piano adding the perfect icing. Skill and soul in abundance.
