Justin long and Dan X out of Chicago keep the citys house music tradition of fucking up old ragtime/jazz loops and using disco’s influence on the windy city to the max.’Step Up Your Game’ uses the old jazz funk classic ‘welcome to your world’ to great effect,this music is really starting to sound fresh again especially when its done well in the boompty style.’influence in numbers’ is in that jacked up jazz loop style with ancient clarionets/horn stabs and double bass going wild over straight up chicago beats,a brillaint ep that while isnt saying anything new stands apart from the deludge of minimal and funki house thats bogging down the scene at the moment.
