Whilst several cool and credible DJs are championing Tom Belton’s fine reworking of L42’s ‘Dive Into The Sun’, forthcoming on Universal’s W14 imprint and remixed from the group’s first proper album in a decade, it’s this latest update of their biggest UK chart hit, from 21 years ago, that will soon be grabbing all the attention. The reason is simple. The in-form Mischa Daniels has created a brace of essential retoolings that whilst retaining Mark King’s original vocal hook leaves everything else at the door and creates a contemporary electro feel that perfectly suits the monotone delivery. Level 42 were always a band for grownups, but now they should become the epitome of über cool!
