This contemporary update of Murk’s Liberty City alter ego from the mid-90s is a far removed from the tribal madness that made Ralph Falcon and Oscar Gaetan’s side-project such an essential back-in-the-day. Italy’s multi-faceted Alex Fain has done an okay job (including creating a more energized mix under his Sex On Monday guise) but the reality is it just seems to lack the bite and subtle urgency that made the original an essential all those years ago. Perhaps the answer is simple – it just isn’t that great a song to start with, and so time has not been kind.
