iO Music are onto a massive winner here with the clever idea of licensing one of the truly original anthems of UK house music. The track originally came out of Sheffield’s pioneering Warp label back in the heady days of 1990 when anyone with a 2Mb sampler and an eight track reel to reel tape machine could make a house record. Tricky Disco however, rose above the masses and cemented itself as a stone cold classic of the nascent rave scene. Mixes are supplied by Lutzenkirchin, who delivers a swaggering party rave-up full of energy and excitement. The Martin Brothers strip things back further for a trip into minimal. Strong and effective the pair of them.
