Spooky’s Open is up there with the albums of 2007, consolidating the ball which started rolling again with the re-release of Gargantuan at the end of last year. It is great to see Charlie and Duncan back in the forefront, making radio-friendly songs but making sure there are remixes to keep dancefloors happy when trousers are a distant memory. The original version of ‘Shelter’ is a ethereal vehicle for Julia Daske’s vocals. The single also includes Spooky’s Refuge Dub, getting into shimmering prog-tech waters with a ‘Riders On the Storm’ sprinkle, plus a chunky house rework from Chris ‘Tarrentella’ Bourne. Spooky also contribute a Dubstrumental plus bonus ‘Slow Phase’ recalling Wild pitch frolics. Top package missus.
