Denis The Menace & Big World Ft. Inusa Dawada
Going Back To My Roots
Subliminal

Almost a year to the day that Franky Boissy and Michael Watford covered the old Lamont Dozier socio-political track inspired in the ’70s by the apartheid regime’s treatment of African’s in South Africa, so another version arrives. It’s no surprise really as this perennial favourite has been covered in a variety of styles over the last three decades with perhaps Odyssey and the FPI Project’s crossover versions the best know (although Richie Havens and Linda Clifford’s version ain’t chopped liver!) In a new twist Germany’s Denis the Menace delivers his own superlative version featuring a Bob Marley-sound-alike in newcomer Inusa Dawada. It’s certainly different, and not at all adhering to the ‘Subliminal sound’, whatever that may be these days, and does still have a certain amount of charm and nostalgia to it.
