The uber talented Mr Menace, (or Christophe Hoeffel if you prefer) who over the years has given us such defining clubbing standards as ‘Discopolis’ and acclaimed alliances with Alan Braxe, Lifelike and Felix Da Housecat, unleashes his long overdue debut. A massive 3CD collection of something old, some new and something borrowed – the latter a handful of acclaimed remixes for the likes of Robbie Williams, Underworld, Roisin Murphy, Tracey Thorn, LCD Soundsystem and Moby. As to the new bits there’s his latest single, ‘Scaler’, (another tasty slice of clean, crisp and irresistible electronica, fast gaining support from Soulwax, Erol Alkan and Laurent Garnier); the previously released singles ‘Voyage’, ‘Fairlight’, ‘Steamroller’ and ‘Jupiter’ (the latter becoming one of Beatport’s biggest downloads in 2006) and a handful of material with long time friend and DJ partner Alan Braxe. A must have item for anyone remotely interested in what’s being played on today’s dancefloors.
