Back To Mine with Pepe Mateos

I got into electronic music when I was 12 years old, but Rock&Roll is still very much in my blood. It will be always there so anytime I create music all these ideas are still awake in me.. Music that gives me the creeps or simply make me travel to past moments and experiences.

Led Zepellin – Gallow’s Pole

I have chosen this track on one hand because I love this band and on the other hand I really love the counter rhythms in the whole song and the way the instruments play out here..

Gallows Pole (Remaster)

Lee Mosses – Bad Girl

I think we all had a woman like this once …☺

Lee Moses - Bad Girl (full song, no break)

Guts – Narco Trip

Probably a song that awakes strange feelings in me. A mix of suspense, drama and comedy in the same song. A great piece

Camel – Lady Fantasy

Frankly a masterpiece of progressive rock. A lot of rhythms and feelings in the same song.

Lady Fantasy (Medley)

Jimi Hendrix – All Along The Watchtower

Nothing to say about this masterpiece. This guitar talks…

Jimi Hendrix Experience All Along The Watchtower

The kinks – You Really Got Me

One of the tracks I heard in my childhood.

the kinks- you really got me

Led Zepellin – The Batttle of Evermore

Another one from Led Zepellin. As I said all this music gives me the creeps and this is another one which gives it to me.

Led Zeppelin - The Battle Of Evermore

Air – La Femme D’Argent

I find a lot of inspiration for my music in this track.

Crosby, Stills, Nash – Woodstock

More classic rock vibes but still a song that shows a lot of hope and freedom

CROSBY, STILLS, NASH Woodstock 1971

Cream – Sunshine Of Your Love

I selected this tune because it is hard and it gives the right energy but I think these guitars are from another world.

Cream - Sunshine Of Your Love (HD)

Deep Purple – Smoke On The Wáter

Another classic. A way to start a hit with a little riff. Simply awesome

Pepe Mateos – La Vida (Self-released)

Mateos has been making music for more than a decade, always cooking up unique sounds that take electronic music in interesting new directions. He has found favour with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Joseph Capriati for his energetic dancefloor workouts on labels like Toolroom, Circus Recordings and Time Has Changed, all while also running his own Flow Musique outlet with friend Davirus. He has been a resident at Sankeys Ibiza as well as playing all round Europe and now draws on all those experiences for this new project. The up coming series will show him exploring a wide range of styles and sounds, each and every month of 2021 with every release influenced by the notion that, “the future is not at all clear. Everything that we thought had been established as fundamental is shaking.” This standout first single ‘La Vida’ is an expression of the ups and downs of Mateos’s own life, a real reflection of his personality and “a track I want to be remembered for. A story with a happy ending. A development more inline with ancient music than with current music. A track with dynamic range, a story that begins and ends with hope.” Musically, the track is a richly melodic house cut with bubbling drums. The keys and smart effects bring a sci-fi feel while the drums roll on, and lush soft-focus melodies, sweeping synths and subtle vocal sounds all add colour and a futuristic sense of soul as the tune sweeps you off into the cosmos.
