Back To Mine with Zepherin Saint (Tribe Records)

After hours grooving…

1. Earth Wind and Fire – That’s The Way Of The World
This was from the first album I ever purchased after saving up all my paper round money.  Played it non stop for 3 years. Still creates the same feeling in me when I listen to it today.

2. Skyy – Let’s Celebrate
A record I came across whilst sneaking in to my brother’s room to raid his record collection.  Feel good music that keeps you grooving until sunlight.

3. Fingers Inc – Bye Bye
The prefect chill record for me from my hero Larry Heard.  Musically it is still relevant today and the album ‘Another Side’ is still a source of inspiration for me.

4. Paul Simon – Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes
The intro from Ladysmith Black Mambazo pure bliss for me followed by Paul Simon at his best. The fusion he created on Graceland gave African music the spotlight it deserved.

5. Oumou Sangare – Yala
The sweet powerful voice of this lady always touches my soul.  On this rare occasion mixed with funk, creates a vibe which puts you in a zone to either foot tap or dance back at mine.

6. Los Van Van – Mis Santos Son Ustedes
‪The Earth Wind and Fire of Cuba. Had the pleasure of seeing them perform in Cuba and witnessing their amazing energy on a few occasions. Any song will be on rotation from this group for me, but this particular one, where they pay homage to the Orisha of Yoruba culture is dear to my heart.

7. Raphael Saadiq – Sky (Zepherin Saint Remix)
One of those songs that I always heard being redone as a house record, when I finally got round to remix the track, it surpassed my expectations.

8. Robert Glasper ft Musiq Soulchild – Ah Yeah
Neo Soul is still a personal favourite genre for me, and Glasper has created future classic right here. In my opinion he is one of the most talented musicians on the planet.

9. Little Dragon – Turn Left
I really enjoy listening to the album from Little Dragon. They have a unique blend of experimental, hip hop and soul that in turn creates a great musical journey. This particular song stands out for me with its child like play on sounds.

10. D’Angelo – Your My Lady
A magical song from an extraodinary talent, Pino Palladino in the pocket with the bass line.  Sweet and tough at the same time.
