AYYBO

Since the second grade, AYYBO (AKA Aaron Bonnema) has had a passion for cinematography and design as well as music production. This grounding in visual arts has given the foundation to express his creative vision fully with every release. After years of working in the shadows, AYYBO has evolved into a multifaceted artist who creates viral and engaging social content backed by high impact, irresistible beat crafting.

And now the Californian tech house prodigy is on the roll of his life! Kicking off the summer with new cut ‘Drench’ – the funk infused track that followed his huge debut on Funkshway, ‘Hypnosis’ which has clocked over 10 millions Spotify streams, and counting. Ahead of his show at Superior Ingredients in New York this weekend, DMCWORLD grabbed a world exclusive…

Hey AYYBO! Great talking with you, thanks for cutting out some time for us. Congrats on the release of “Drench”. Was it as fun to make as it is to listen to?

Hey, thanks for having me! Drench was a ton of fun to make since the vocal itself was very easy to work around. I get really inspired by hip-hop vocals so this track felt like my bread and butter.

You kicked things off with your first release back in 2022 called ‘Hypnosis’. Even Pitbull jumped on the remix. What was it like releasing that track and working with Mr. Worldwide?

It was a surreal experience for sure. I would’ve never guessed Pitbull would remix it and I’m just so grateful for the opportunity since I grew up listening to him.

After ‘Hypnosis’ you had “Drench” coming out, was it difficult to follow up “Hypnosis” or were you still flowing with the same creative energy?

I feel like it was difficult to follow up “Hypnosis” since my sound has evolved quite a bit and headed into more of a minimal hip-hop infused house sound. I’m just having a ton of fun making music although I feel more critical of my music since “Hypnosis” set a high bar for myself.

We know you’ve got some key shows coming up, but do you have more new music in the works? If so, can you share any inside info?

Yes! I have an EP I’m putting out later this year as well as other releases. We’re putting a lot of thought into the EP rollout and creative marketing. I think these tracks I’m the most excited to release because it feels very genuine to my current sound and sets apart from the rest of my discography.

What are you most excited for coming up in 2023?

My forthcoming EP for sure. I think the visuals and skits we’re making for it are hilarious too and can’t wait to show it to the world. It’s by far the most work we’re putting into a release as far as the creative marketing side, it’s gonna be a ton of fun.

Thanks again for sitting down with DMC World! Anything else you’d like to leave us and our readers with?

Thanks so much for the opportunity! For my fans – I know I’ve been a little quiet but just know I’ve been in the lab cooking like no other. I have a ton of new music and shows on the way.
