Back To Mine with Maxine Scott

Maxine Scott is a fresh talent on the scene who has a seductive soulful voice and a level of maturity in her lyrics that belies her 22 years. She was quickly snapped up by ADR and provided the vocals on their ‘Back To Dance’ release, which notched up four weeks play on Danny Howard’s BBCR 1’s ‘Dance Party’ show. And reached No.1 on Beatport’s Dance charts. As her stunning solo single, ‘Erykah U Bad’, drops on Ramrock Blue Records, DMCWorld goes back to mine with the captivating Maxine Scott.

Col3trane & Mahalia – Pretty – TaP Records

This slow jam is perfect to start an after hours listening party. I love the balance of both artists voice, really just gets me in my feels.

Sainte – Champagne Shots – YSM Collective

To carry on the UK R&B and hip hop feel,  this song comes in at a strong second. Sainte has such a defined laid-back style of Rap which I just love!

The 1975 – How To Draw / Petrichor – Dirty Hit

The 1975 are my guilty pleasure and I can feel my 16 year old self majorly fan girling right now. I remember when I was that age and used to wait hours outside of Alexandra Palace just to get to the front of their gigs. I love the transcendent and ethereal mixture of noises and garage inflects in this tune!

MJ Cole, Nova Caspar, Jay Dee – Sincere – UMC

This Garage classic follows along nicely and it was introduced to me by the one and only Jo Wallace, boss of Ramrock Records. I love getting shown new music, as soon as I heard his track, I became obsessed and had a whole summer of playing just UK Garage.

MJ Cole - Sincere - Original (UK Garage)

Ojerime – Jetset – Fang

A sweet touch to the 90’s Hip-Hop and R&B gems.

A Tribe Called Quest – The Hop – Jive

This was my introduction to American Hip-Hop and I was instantly hooked. The lyrics just make me feel I was there during those times. Such a vibe!

J.Cole – High for Hours – J.Cole P&D

My favourite artist no cap. J.Cole meditates on oppression and the dangers of revolution on this soul-tinged beat. I feel his music.

Kayne West, Syleena Johnson – All Falls Down – Roc-A-Fella

We all want the old Kayne back, right?

Kanye West - All Falls Down ft. Syleena Johnson

Masego, FKj – Tadow – EQT Recordings, LLC, Songtrust

My favourite song of 2021. Just pure, pure vibes and sauce.

Maxine Scott – Erykah U Bad – Ramrock Blue Records

This is my baby. One of the first songs I ever produced. Imagine you’re at a jazz club in NYC and you’re indulging in a whiskey on the rocks fantasising over the sax player.`

Maxine Scott ‘Erykah U Bad EP’ (incl. North Street West Mixes) will be released on March 25th 2022 on Ramrock Blue Records
