Hey Slowz thanks for joining us today! Firstly, where in the world are you at the moment?
Hey, thanks for having me! I’m at home in the countryside of Paris, watching Fallout, the new series on Amazon Prime, lol.
Congratulations on the release of your debut album ‘Digital Love’. How has the feedback been so far
Thank you, I appreciate it ! The feedback has been pretty good I would say. It’s funny to see what songs are the most streamed; which ones folks enjoy the most, etc. I’m pleasantly surprised to see that instrumental songs like ‘Power’ and ‘Through The City’ are appreciated. In general I’ve had really good reactions to Digital Love…

You’ve been in the scene for a number of years now, what influenced you to release an LP now?
I didn’t really know where I wanted to go musically until I started to work on Digital Love in 2020. I was waiting to find that Slowz sound and vibe that will lead and shape my future projects, remixes and productions. I always dreamt to release a full length album as an artist. I enjoyed working from the artistic direction of artwork to the very last touch of musical production and having something coherent. This has now been done with Digital Love. Big ups to my co-conspirators J.O.Y, Belle Humble, Angus Field and Senpu.
How long has it been in production and how did you decide which vocalists to work with?
I finished the instrumentals between 2020 and 2021. For me, this is the easiest part of the writing and production process of working on an album. The most difficult part is finding vocalists and collaborators. This took me one year and a half. I’m always working with singer / songwriters because they bring something new to my songs. They refresh it, I love that so much! Usually I’m checking artists I love and I let the algorithm leading me through Spotify or Soundcloud suggestions. It’s very useful. When I reach out to artists I like, sometimes the feeling is amazing (like with all of my Digital Love collaborators), sometimes we don’t feel it. But you have to be very patient. It’s a very long road.
Do you have a favourite track on the album?
‘Through The City’ is my favorite song at the moment.
What does a typical day in the studio look like for you?
Waking up early, at 7. I’m working at home and I enjoy producing from my home studio. I work all day long until I’m done with all the ideas I have in mind.
Who were some of your musical icons growing up that have inspired your sound?
I would say Luis Dubuc from The Secret Handshake and Mystery Skulls. Travis Barker from Blink182. Tom Delonge from Angels And Airwaves and Adam Young from Owl City.
Do you have any other forthcoming music we can look forward to?
Always ! Expect some Slowz remixes (Hannah (HRM) Mrozak, Jody Watley, Jesse Rankins from WATCH THE DUCK, Ultra Naté) and originals. I’m going to release my next project ‘Digital Love Mixtape’ https://alterk.lnk.to/DigitalLoveMIXTAPE on May 3. It’s a companion volume to Digital Love with previously unreleased extendeds, remixes and exclusive songs.
What are some of the biggest changes you’ve experienced in the industry over the past few years?
I would say first – the way of listening to the music. The transition between CDs and streaming was pretty huge to me. Then I would say – the way listeners consume the music. Nowadays people don’t really listen to albums anymore and are more enjoying one shot songs or singles. It doesn’t push artists to release full length projects or conceptualize bigger.
If you had one piece of advice for those of our readers who are looking to start their musical careers, what would it be?
GO!! Do it with your heart, you’ll have no regrets.
