Back To Mine With Altered View

Altered View is a project born in lockdown and deep in some secluded UK woodland. There, Johnny Area and Johnny Midnight came together, fomented ideas, dreamt up sounds and fused their concepts and influences into a fresh new selection of tracks. As their new ‘Taken From The Outer Realm EP’ lands on Kilsha with a hot remix from Jamie Blanco, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Altered View.

Johnny Midnight:

Beta Band – Dry The Rain

The perfect band to chill out to. Hip Hop and electronic influences abound and… Steve Mason. A true legend, we love every project he’s ever done. His new album is great.

The Beta Band - Dry The Rain

Daniel Avery – Lone Swordsman

One of the finest electronic artists of recent times pays tribute to THE Don, Andrew Weatherall. Pure electronic goodness. A fitting tribute to the sorely missed Guvnor.

Code 6 – Third Aura

Joey Beltram at his melodic best. At the end of a long weekend of going ‘out out’ I used to stick this on repeat and bliss out. I remember when we both got this track on clear vinyl back in the day from Fat Cat.

Code 6 - Third Aura (original mix) (1993)

Cagedbaby – Hello There

Oh man this track. It really gets me and is the perfect mix of electronic/80’s/Balearic with a smattering of pop. Another track I would stick on loop on chilled comedown end of night vibes!

Jean Michelle Jarre – Oxygene Pt 4

The beginning of my life long love of electronic music was stealing this from my Dad when I was very young. Got to see him live finally at Bluedot festival a few years back and it was everything I wanted it to be. His last words as he left the stage were ‘See you soon, in space!!!!’ What a dude.

Johnny Area:

The Cure – The Forest

One of THE great records of all time. A band that confuse electronica, guitars and pop in the best possible way that we both love. A massive underlying influence on so much music.

The Cure- A Forest (album version) HQ

Bam Bam – Give It To Me

Acid House at its finest. Always has been and always will be a massive part of our history. The original ‘back to mine’s’ were a bit less chilled out than they have become in later life.

Bam Bam -Give it to me

The Smiths – How Soon Is Now

One of my favourite bands turns out an accidentally Balearic tune that still sounds fresh today.

How Soon Is Now? (2008 Remaster)

CJ Bolland – Horsepower

I was going to have Joey Beltram ‘Energy Flash’, but we’ve already got one Joey track in here. When everything was changing from progressive house to techno in our world, this track was a game changer.

CJ Bolland - Horsepower (Original Mix)

Candi Staton – You’ve Got The Love (Original 86 mix)

The original and far superior mix of an all time classic. A funked up and soulful way to end a night.

Candi Staton You Got The Love ( Original 1986 Version )
