Naples-born Amedeo Picone draws on the 90s sounds of his youth to influence his own take on tech, house and minimal and it has helped him become a European mainstay. He’s had big tunes climb high in Beatport charts and plays iconic venues like Amnesia, Ushuaïa, Printworks and The Warehouse Project amongst many more. As his journey continues with the formation of his new label, Peak One Records, with ‘Hear Me’, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Amedeo Picone.
Michael Jackson – You Rock My World
Michael Jackson is my favourite artist, to me he represents THE MUSIC in all its forms.
He had rhythm in his blood, and with this song, which I’m in love with, he represents all his class and originality.
Sting – Englishman In New York
A wonderful song to which I’m so attached and which represents me so much, even though I’m Neapolitan and not English. Two phrases from this song are like mantras for me: “a gentleman will walk but never run” and “be yourself, no matter what they say”.
Stevie Wonder – Overjoyed
This song has always brought me joy; I love Stevie’s voice and his vocal melodies.
Phoenix – If I Ever Feel Better
A classy song to listen to on any occasion.
Daft Punk – Instant Crush
A magical song that I listen to on loop when I travel.
Pino Daniele – Je Sto Vicino a Te
A song by one of the artists who for me is among the best in history, and he was from my city, Napoli.
Ultra Natè – Free
A song that brings me back to being a child, when I listened to my father (a DJ from the 90s) while he was DJing with vinyl on his turntables. This is undoubtedly one of the songs that brought me closer to the world of clubbing.A song that fully represents the world in which I work, a hymn to freedom! Ah… Thanks dad!
Dennis Ferrer – How Do I Let Go
When I’m at home, or in the car, or traveling for work, I don’t really listen to the music I play or that is close to that sound, rather I like to “get lost” in different sounds, which maybe make me clean my ears and recharge my batteries. It is not the case though for this fantastic song by Dennis Ferrer remixed by DJ Able & Matt Bandy, a track that I listen to pleasantly every time and that I never get tired of.
Whitney Houston – Greatest Love Of All
I couldn’t not add a song from my favuorite female singer. An immortal voice for an immortal song.
Angie Stone – Wish I Didn’t Miss You
Timeless Classic. Surely this is one of the best R&B \ soul songs I’ve listened to!
Great sampling of The OJays ‘Backstabbers’. Angie’s voice is superb!
Amedeo Picone ‘Hear Me’ is out now on Peak One Records.
