The ‘Trains, Planes & Automobiles’ album took shape in April last year as the lockdown was starting to take grip and Biesmans needed a positive distraction. Ensconced in the music of his childhood and ‘80s pop cultural fodder, he locked himself in his studio and set about creating, later digging through archival footage to match the music. Biesmans, who previously undertook work scoring films, was so absorbed by the process, he’d sometimes do it in reverse; allowing the vintage media be the guide. Throughout the period, the clips were shared each Monday, Wednesday and Friday on his Instagram, building up a firm following from fans, friends and colleagues. And thus, the project found its wings, developing into an album. And here the producer shares a stunning Back To Mine 10 with us…

This is a true intro tune. I love the way it puts me in a very specific mood, it prepares me for an upcoming journey. When working on my album ‘Trains, Planes & Automobiles’ I felt the need for a track that had this specific function.
Design a wave – Weird F (Aroy Dee edit)
An excellent way to bring the energy levels up without burning too much calories I’d say! I discovered this record in my early Berlin days and I still keep it close to my heart. Lush, vintage pads and beautiful harmonies that bring me back to the early days, is it obvious I’m a sucker for nostalgia?
The Abstract Eye – Grandfather fire
The trip continues with this arpeggio heavy monster. It really has all the ingredients I love, raw analog sounds and modulating arpeggios that could confuse one. In my track ‘Do You Read Me?” I’ve stacked several arpeggios on top of each other to get a similar “confusing” effect.
Hard Corps – Je Suis Passee
Back to the ‘80s with Hard Corps! Music like this keeps on inspiring me and every time I listen this song, there’s another element I’d love to explore!
Loveshadow – Passthru
Only discovered this recently but I’m sure you can feel why I love this. I’m all about using retro gear and capturing that 80s sound in a 2021 context and Loveshadow has done a wonderful job with this song.
Marvin Gaye – Inner City Blues
A true master and his music will always reverberate in mine! He has contributed so much but I picked Inner City Blues because when you come from a small town like me, arriving in a place like Berlin can be harsh. The energy of a big city inspires and influences me but it can also have a negative impact sometimes!
James Holden – A Break In The Clouds
James has been inspiring me from the very beginning and ‘A Break in the Clouds’ is one of those records that has been played a little bit more than others! In the early hours on the dance floor or at the afterparty at home on the couch, this one does the trick.

Laid back all the way! Nina has a wonderful voice and with this gem, she always puts me in the right mood!

This song was originally written by Serge Gainsbourg, but the Belgian singer Jo Lemaire did an amazing new wave / cold wave version of it. Cold void was practically looking around the corner for this one!
Tornado Wallace – Kakdu
To finish this little sonic trip, I’ve chosen Kakadu by Tornado Wallace. I might be a huge fan of synthesized sounds but I love the how organically this song sounds! Filled with nature sounds, this journey ends.
