With over 70 million streams to date, Hackney’s Blakey has built a quietly formidable profile as a songwriter and vocalist. His new single, ‘Ta Ta Ta’, sees him deliver his most electronic synth-driven release to date, complete with a catchy-as-hell hook that retains the emotional pull of his earlier work while drawing more directly from the UK’s electronic undercurrent. DMCWorld goes Back To Mine with Blakey.
&me, Black coffee – Rapture Part 3
I mean this is a classic but the way it builds and is so emotive it rolls and rolls and just grows – so many sunrises to this song for me.
Lost Act – Poema de la Noche (Calabasa Remix)
One of my favourite tunes – such clever intricate production and small bits that come in and out and if you listen there is aways something popping out somewhere in the tapestry and that base line just movessss.
Antconstantino – Cammy Riddim
Huge hook that just repeats and repeats and grows – absolute sheller.
salut, Sammy virji – Peach )VIP)
The drop switch up in this is one of the finest switch ups if not the finest – especially the second drop clap at 3:50. At first listen the longer intro and first bit can maybe even get a little boring but I think thats on purpose to make the switch up hit even harder. It’s genius.
Adekunle Gold – It is What It Is
This track oozes sophistication – sax solo underrated – so easy and nonchalant and swaggy. Everything a song should be.
Rema – Calm Down
Such a simple hook but also very original – think these things are genius and make you bop.
Raffa Guido – Famax
One of those mad infectious riffs. Can’t get it out of your head once it’s in.
unfazed – A Gira
Again just a mad catchy melody and nice chord changes – really pops.
BURNS – Talamanca
Love the melodic hooks in this . Almost reminds me of a souped up Right Here, Right Now by Fatboy Slim somehow. The strings pop.
Barry Can’t Swim – About to Begin
New one from Barry Can’t Swim, loving how he’s switching it up and going acid house – big Prodigy energy.
Blakey ‘Ta Ta Ta’ is out now.
