His Bitter Truth

Kinobe – Slip into Something More Comfortable ft. Ben & Jason

The intro just transports me straight to Cafe Del Mar. It mellows me out instantly… toes in the sand… cocktail in hand… and breathe.

Groove Armada – My Friend

Instantly think of Groove Armanda and house parties when I think of Back to Mine. And this is a classic that never fades.

Fragile State – The Barney Fade

This one’s more the after-after party…when there’s only the few left, and the conversation gets deep. A touch of the cinematic soundscape for the heart to heart and solving the problems of the world.

Kendrick Lamar – Swimming Pools (Drank)

What a record and what an album, can’t believe it’s 11 years old now! This was my first introduction to Kendrick and still sounds as fresh today as it did when I first heard it.

Goldie – Inner City Life

This tune always gives me goosebumps. Guaranteed hands in the air moments galore Back to Mine at the afters. Such an iconic track.

The Stone Roses – Fools Gold

I was blessed to see the Roses at their ‘Re-resurrection’ gigs at Heaton Park, Manchester in 2012. They are one of my favourite bands and this record still goes down a treat at any party!

Mura Masa – Love For That feat. Shura

This track sits brilliantly in that space of danceable but one to sit back and just take in. Mura Masa is an absolute force and definitely has bigger tunes but this one always sticks with me, from the cello intro so Shura’s silky vocals.

Kaytranda – Intimidated ft H.E.R

Kaytranda is another staple in my music taste, it was close to a Kaytramine track but this one of my top played tracks the year it came out. The beautiful simplicity, haunting soft vocals and astounding production make this just one brilliant tune.

Jessie Ware – Remember Where You Are

I’ve always been a fan of Jessie Ware, and when I heard this album was going to be produced by James Ford, I had high hopes. Simian Mobile Disco were a huge inspiration to Dave and I and James’ production work in the last 10+ years has been unbelievable. This track is like a modern Earth Wind and Fire tune. As an album closer it was a total gear switch but is soothing settler with the strings and rolling bassline throughout.

Nao – Orbit / Saturn

This live performance is one that I will always bring out like “you heard this!?”, another brilliant album and two of my favourites from it performed together live, absolute peach! Nao and Kwab’s voices together on Saturn! I challenge you to not sit back and drink this all in.
