Back To Mine With Powerdress

Known for her signature sound of trademark 80s synths and sultry vocals – PowerDress’ sound is simultaneously both nostalgic and truly modern. Her tracks have received radio love from Annie Mac, DJ Target, DJ Cameo, and Pete Tong, among many. She has collaborated with the likes of DJ Q, Roisto, FVHM, Arthur Baker, Jon Pearn and Full Intention, and has co-written some of the biggest tracks of the last decade including Lana Del Rey’s double platinum ‘National Anthem’, among others. As her divine new single with Black Legend and Ridney, ‘Over You’, is released on Fool’s Paradise, DMCWorld throws on the shoulder pads and heads back to mine with Powerdress.

Grace Jones – Slave To The Rhythm

What is a genius piece of work written by Trevor Horn, a masterclass in production. I love the emotiveness of the chords and the groove when the slap bass hits the key change, without being cheesy.

New Order – Confusion

Working with Arthur Baker will always be a great accomplishment for me. I love this track because I can hear Arthur’s production on it.

Eurythmics – Love Is A Stranger

Clever lyrics, melody and production = Electro Pop perfection. There will never be another genius combo like Dave Stuart and Annie.

Róisín Murphy – Overpowered

Roisin is an inspiration of mine, and the name Powerdress was partly inspired by the video of this song. I love the melancholic feel of the melody and lyrics mixed with the electro elements.

Tensnake – Coma Cat

I’m a big fan of Marco and his work and love how this original version stands the test of time. It sounds fresh and takes me back to first performing on the great White Isle and meeting him and talking colours of Mambo beach.

Hurts  – Wonderful Life

I love the mysterious drama of it and the influences you can here we are a fan of similar artists. Theo Hutchcraft’s voice also soothes me.

Depeche Mode – Enjoy The Silence

It’s a perfect winding down track and till emotive enough not to be too depressing. I love the vox synths and synth sounds mixed with the guitars, its so beautiful mixed with the lyrics, so unifying.

Madonna – la Isla Bonita

I love the spoken word Spanish at the beginning and I love the harmonies, so innocent and beautiful. I think the voice is quite haunting on this actually. Also reminds me of my childhood and also falling in love with Ibiza and the Spanish language. I also wanted to choose Vogue as its so expressive of the vibe of Powerdress.

Janet Jackson – What Have You Done For Me Lately

Love the harmonies and the way it builds up to the main hook and then does a 360 again to the main hook. Cannot not dance to it.

Crazy P  – Heartbreaker

I love the mix of real instrumentation and all that’s being played mixed with electronic elements and the feel of it for me is very euphoric.
