The success of his debut EP ‘Your Love’ included Jaguar’s Radio 1 Dancefloor Moment ‘Leave The Water Still’ – now, still in his early twenties, fresh talent Sonnee brings new joy to dancefloors with single ‘Dancing Ain’t Enough’, featuring POLIÇA frontwoman Channy Leaneagh on vocals. ‘Dancing Ain’t Enough’ is a gorgeous confection of shimmering synth strata with a softly insistent beat showcasing Channy’s sweet voice, given the Sonnee treatment to sound subtly pitch-shifted to give a mix of acoustic clarity with a nod to the 90s. We caught up with the Manchester born, London based artist around this new release to get his back to mine picks.
Bonobo – Defender
The blend of the vocal with those beautiful synth plucks, absolutely love the mellow energy.
Model Man – Arms
One of my favourite tunes of the year I love that spoken word sample, really sets the mood.
Radiohead – Reckoner (Maribou State Remix)
That acid line is something I think I could listen to endlessly, I get goosebumps every time I listen to this one.
Chet Faker – Birthday Card
Laid back magic, seven minutes of pure calm.
Mafro – Alright
Big fan of Mafro, this one is my favourite of his so far. The vocals hit different.
Lil Silva – Making Sense
I adore Lil Silva’s new album but this tune will always have a special place for me.
Four Tet – Lush
A classic tune, meditative vibes.
Mole Map – Hurt Me Again (don’t)
Magic. Way more people should know about this one.
Gallago – Lifeboat
Been loving this one for years, proper tune.
Gerry Read – It’ll All Be Over (DJ Koze Remix)
One to end the afters with.
