Back To Mine With Tjaro

Based in East London, Tjaro creates chunky, bass-heavy music for dancefloors laced with infectious hooks and riffs. He has honed his skills through working with some of the great names in contemporary club music from Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) to Andy Williams (Yam Who? / Midnight Riot). This month Tjaro drops his debut release with ‘Discreet’: a two-track EP of slick house music split between peak-time punch and sun-drenched atmospherics which has already found favour with Pete Tong. DMCWorld goes back to mine with Tjaro.

Fela Kuti – Water No Get Enemy

One of the most important and influential artists over the last 50 years in my opinion. His mix of funk, jazz, highlife and Tony Allen’s rock solid rhythms changed everything. Truly one of the greats.

Four Text – Teenage Birdsong (Overmono Remix)

Unreal track! Overmono have inspired me so much over the last year or so, and this remix has so many amazing features to it. Whether it’s the drums, the dreamy layers of synths or the intricate atmospherics they include to spice things up, they never disappoint on this one.

Cleo Soul – Sweet Blue

Cleo Soul has such an amazing tone and complexity to her voice, and this tune is a favourite among a number of really great tracks she has released over the last few years.

Kendrick Lamar – Alright

Not much really needs to be said here. The GOAT.

Roy of the Ravers – Emotinium

Such a tune, so simple but so unique. Got really stuck into his music throughout much of last year and he has such an incredible way of using original, timeless sounds in a more modern environment.

Smooth Touch – House of Love (Love Mix)

A classic that never gets old, and how could you ever forget that bassline!

Boards of Canada – Kid for Today

I only found out about Boards a couple of months ago. I remember driving back from a gig with my Dad one night, he was playing this EP and I was instantly hooked. They’ve got such a unique way of combining samples to create blissful, dreamlike ambience. One of many amazing pieces of work by them.

Bremer/McCoy – Natten

Have been listening to Bremer/McCoy for a little while now, and always find myself searching to find when their next release is dropping. This tune and many others set up for an incredible listen.

Daft Punk – Indo Silver Club

Daft Punk opened up a world of possibilities for me within electronic music, and when I listened to Homework for the first time, this one always resonated with me. Such an iconic sound, and they truly are the GOATs of modern-day electronic music.

DY Python – Club Sentimiental, Vol.3

This is one of my favourite tunes of the last year or so. The warped synth and filtered drums pack the overall track with endless character and emotion and give it a unique atmosphere. An incredible record!
