Interview by Dan Prince

Dude a huge welcome to DMCWORLD…where on this crazy planet are you today?

First of all, thank you for your warm welcome! I’m in Rouen Dan, near Paris in France!

Ah the birthplace of Edward IV, I know it well! Okay, let’s get into it…

What is the best piece of new music you have heard this week?

I’ve discovered an artist called Memba and really liked his song “Middle Man”

An exciting start to 2018 for you as you release your brand new single ‘Oh!’ feat. Fanny. Soothing summer vibes in the house! Please talk us through the history and sound of your new tune out via SONY France…

Yes, ‘Oh!’ feat. Fanny is the 1st single taken from my forthcoming EP “Elevations”. I’ve had a lot of fun to make this 1st single with Fanny. We did the song really fast, in only a few hours. The song has keeped a lot from our state of mind as we have recorded it with spontaneity.

You are known to be an avid fan of funk, so lets rewind for a moment to see where this musical journey began….what is your earliest memory of music as a child?

My earliest music memory as a child was “Raspberry Beret” by Prince. I remember the moment I discovered this song like it was yesterday. I was overwhelmed by a strong emotion, a big euphoria. It was like opening a new door of perception.

Do you hail from a musical family, who do you get your creativity from?

I don’t hail from a musical family but music has always taken an important part because it was the easiest way to escape from the suburbs I am from. My big brother used to play a new record each week in the 80’s: D-Train, Shalamar, Skyy High, Cameo etc… all those bands and many more have written the soundtrack of my childhood. Then, I discovered the video game universe and all the music we can listen to while playing! I tried to reproduce those music on an old Amiga 500, just for fun! That’s how everything started.

Early musical heroes?

I’m thinking about artists like Flume, Diplo, Mark Ronson and Calvin Harris…

Was a life in music always going to be the route for you or was there something else you were interested in?

A few years ago, I was a lawyer in Paris and I’ve decided to quit my job. Then, I’ve taken some time to make music seriously and to produce my new EP “Variations.

Was the dream to be a DJ, a producer or both?

Being a producer has always been a passion, a dream.

You made your debut in Japan last summer, what were some of your Tokyo adventure highlights?

Playing in Tokyo was a really huge adventure. I was really touched by the kindness of Japanese people! Shibuya and Akihabara are amazing places to discover.

The big 3 tunes in your box this weekend…

Memba – Middle Man: I really love the unique atmosphere on this track
Cool Company – Slice Of Paradise: this song puts a big smile on my face
Crayon – After The Tone: smooth and mellow as butter

What is the best piece of advice you can offer to all of the aspiring producers wanting to follow in your footsteps into the music industry…?

Never give up, you always learn a lot from your mistakes. Be patient, germination could take several months or years.

Tell us about Les Inrocks Lab award you received for your ‘Variations’ EP back in 2016…

I was really surprised to receive this award from Les Inrocks Lab because I wasn’t expecting to see my EP ‘Variations” getting so much support.

What is your No. 1 dream for 2018?

For 2018, my No. 1 dream is to do more music and to share it to the largest audience

And finally, what is coming out next from you studio wise?

In a few weeks, I’ll release my next EP “Elevations” including 3 original new songs!
