Tune
Hard to pinpoint the best, as there have been so many winning tracks this year, but a clear winner is a recent track by Ulrich Schnauss ‘Melt into Thin Air’ taken from his new album ‘No Further Away Than Today’ – a gorgeous melodic and heavenly tune to stir the emotions.
Album
2016 has seen an explosion of great albums but one that really stands out to me is Moderat ‘III’ – what an album that is, one of those albums that goes on loop! This is an addictive listening experience which keeps you wanting more.
Remix
One remix I keep revisiting and every time I hear it it sends shivers down my spine, is Walls ‘Drunken Galleon’ (John Tejada remix) this is such an ingenious and beautiful take on the original.
Label
I think Kompakt Records have established themselves pretty well in the music industry, and have been collecting some the best electronic artists around.
Breakthrough Label
I love what’s coming out on Atomnation. Artists like Olaf Stut are super creative. This label has a unique and exquisite take on the electronic genre bringing this style of music to a new level.
Producer
Ulrich Schnauss is a genius & master of the genre he is in, his work is not only creative & beautiful but so inspiring, so he definitely takes the number one spot here.
Festival
Never really been one for festivals, but as far as music, arts & artists go I think I would quite happily enjoy Rainbow Serpent which showcases an eclectic mix of grooves, atmospheres and rhythms which would be right up my street.
Music Conference
Brighton’s Music Conference seems to be where it’s at and great for anyone in the music game especially upcoming artists trying to find their way into the music industry.
Radio Show
Recently I’ve been listening to Frisky a lot, and I’m really enjoying Tripswitch’s ‘Harmonics’ show, which is very popular right now.
Mainstage DJ
I think Sasha is a genius, ever since I heard his beautiful ‘Involver’ series he had me hooked.
New Studio Equipment/Software
There are some really powerful and beautiful sounding plug-ins out there right now and Spectrasonics and Output are the ones to beat for sure!
Personal highlight of 2016
After years of hard work developing my sound in the studio, its finally starting to pay off, getting signed to Section Records to release my new album ‘Melodyheart’ has to be the biggest highlight for me.
