ADE 2015 – Sylvia Tosun

Stumbled on to the sounds of Odd Parents for the first time. Respect

Party/show of ADE?

It was a very musically diverse week! I loved Armada Captivating night at Undercurrent…amazing vibe with everyone…walked in while Mark Sixma was playing a beautiful and energetic set. Armin van Buuren was the special guest and he played a proper and inspiring trance set, and then, Andrew Rayel’s set had super big room energy!  Then, another night, I went out to enjoy Maceo Plex and discovered Odd Parents, which kept me on the dancefloor with their awesome, progressively deep musical vibe – loved it!

Standout tracks you played/heard during ADE?

Rayel & Sixma’s track ‘Chased’ really stood out at the Armada Captivating event.  Odd Parents, whom I had just discovered, played a track that really had me dancing, and the title of it is, ‘Teach the Wind’…am totally loving that sound!!

Best selfie of ADE…

I’m not big on selfies, but got this one with Armin at Armada Captivating…haha!

Top 100 DJ thoughts?

Hmm…congrats to all the DJs on the list, but I think I’ll leave my opinion about the politics of it alone…

Party animal of the week?

lol…from my group of artist friends, Kid Alien gets that prize!

Why is ADE so important in the dance community?

ADE has stood the test of time in the dance community as being the most important part of the year. Even through all of the numerous changes in dance music as well as all of the other major events that happen throughout the year, I believe that those of us who have been part of the community for a long time, still regard ADE as the epicentre. Personally, I feel grounded within the community more and more each year at ADE. Amsterdam is such a magical place and I think it brings out the very best in everyone.  It feels like ‘coming home’ when I get to see all of my colleagues and friends in the business, in person, and share this ‘musical holiday’ with everyone.
