Ibiza 2012 Special

What is your favourite memory of Ibiza 2012?

“The new venue Ocean Club’s Deep Flight Opening party which I played at. Sisters Sledge were live – amazing, incredibly sexy dancers like I have never seen on the island. And lot’s of old friends and great house music.”

Tune of the summer?

“For me, Liquideep ‘Alone’ (Purple Music / Mental Wave). A very talented team from South Africa.”

Most overplayed record of the summer?

“I personally never overplay records as there is way too much good music around.”

Favourite resident DJ on the island?

“Sebastian Gamboa.”

Why is Ibiza still the best party location in the world?

“It’s simply the place to be. Lots of music, girls and excesses – and I think that is what people like the most, mixed in with sunny weather and loads of VIPs.”

Ibiza is now split straight down the middle with serious DJs spinning quality house and techno on one side, and DJs playing the big room bangers on the other. Discuss…

“I started to notice that last year, but I feel that good quality House music will be be back more and more in the near future.”

What new party caused the biggest splash in their debut summer this year? And why?

“I would say the Deep Flight party at Ocean Club, it was the venue everyone was talking about.”

Favourite restaurant and beach in Ibiza?

“KM5 and Salinas beach.”

Do you think the 123 Rocktronic Festival that featured the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Sting, David Guetta and Tiesto this year is an important addition to the Ibiza summer, or do you think it is a case of one too many party on an already bulging season?

“It was something different and interesting. Especially if you consider how big the pop stars were on the bill. The island is opening it’s doors to a different public and to all music genres, which is all good.”

What is the one record that will always remind you of Ibiza…?

“Impossible question, there are too many good records.”

Best venue in Ibiza and why?

“Pacha. It’s an institution.”

A lot of money has been spent on the island in recent years improving things, what do you think is the biggest improvement on the island?

“The beach parties and reduced club/after party times. We have to remember people are living there and not everyone loves this big movida all summer long.”

What nationality are the craziest people on the dancefloor?

“The Italian and British.”

If you had to pick one person to go out clubbing with in Ibiza, who would it be?

“My wife because we haven’t enjoy parties these days as I am always in the DJ booth.”

And finally, tell us about your first trip to the white isle…

“It was over 17 years ago and I was playing at Privilige. I discovered a very beautiful place that didn’t mean just partying.”
