‘In My Factory’ out on Viva Music

Welcome to DMCWORLD towers dude. An incredible debut album just out, entitled ‘In My Factory’ out on Viva Music. 13 very different tracks with 6 collaborations. Can you talk us through the album track by track…

Leon“‘My Dreams With Butano’ is an intro very melodic and dreamy, makes me think of the long traveling I did in America. ‘Inside Me’ represents all the passion I have for the percussion and the magic of dreamy pads. ‘Prophet Style was made in the studio with a special friend after a dinner together and many beers, it’s something that comes close to the sound of burial, more than dirty with a beautiful voice by Cony. ‘My Breathe’ is just pure electronics and slower bpm that with the voice of Lara approaches the atmospheres of Bjorke. ‘Cause I’m Lost’ is a partnership with Testa, the voice is mine, he played the synths and the rhythm, I really enjoyed myself during this track, it’s very particular. ‘Follow Me’ I think is the strongest track of the album, with Toky is a talented guy and together we developed this hymn to joy and serenity, ideal for sunsets in Ibiza. ‘I’m So Guilty is for me the best track of the album, it’s dedicated to my eternal love. ‘Azzurra’ to my mistakes in love and a free heart and purity of pleasure in my factory, represents me very much because it is a track for the dancefloor, the goal was to move your ass to the people and I think it work. ‘Supersonic’ is a track where I got inspiration from an old ep of Cevin Fisher, a maestro for me, suitable for the dancefloor, a typical track I play in my sets. ‘It’s Time To Load’ has been made to make a real bomb. ‘Seventies’ with my friend Mazu is the art of the loop and something funkier and blues rain in my soul closes the album, and represents the hope of living in a better world.”

How long did the album take to make and where did you record it?

“One year of work done almost entirely at home in my home studio – it was a complex job, and sacrificial, but very exciting.”

You once said that you wanted to make an album that will be suitable for clubbers, DJs, sunsets, for the car and darkness. Have you succeeded?

“Exactly, through the album I had the opportunity to put different tracks, different styles, representing me 360 degrees, not only for the dancefloor. I think I’ve succeeded; it has a bit of electro, ambient, techno and house.”

Who were your early music influences growing up before EDM?

“My father was a drummer when I was little so I remember I was listening to artists such as Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, but also jazz artists such as Chick Corea, Chuck Berry and others, then when I grew up I started to get interested in Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Sade, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys…”

Your modern day influences include the likes of Steve Lawler, Danny Tenaglia and Laurent Garnier. What is it about these guys that you loved?

“Ehhehe, I love house music and techno thanks to these artists. I consider Danny Tenaglia the strongest DJ of all time, he is the master, is the real DJ who puts the track at the right time! His music is futuristic, it has been for years, his sets of over 12 hours remain in the history of clubbing. Laurent Garnier is a lovely person, very professional, for me the greatest techno artist of the past year, his techno is UNIQUE. Steve Lawler is a friend, he taught me a lot, technically is one of the best DJs in the world, does not miss a beat, always watch what he does and his style is unmistakable, dirty, dark, tribal! GREAT.”

What did your family think of your choice of career in music?

“My family has always been very contrary to my choice I was born and raised in a very small town, with great ignorance, my parents wanted only that I studied, but music has always been my life. I struggled so much with them, to make them understand that only the music made me feel good It was not easy, it took years before he began to realize that I had a gift that God had put me in the world to make music. I’ve never had a sound system at home, would not, I found it hard to buy vinyl, and I pocket money to do it! it was really hard, but instead they support me now and are happy and they see me happy, I seem more human, more secure!”

Ibiza is no stranger to you. Where can we find you spinning this summer?

“I love Ibiza, it’s magical and unique, people feel more free and just wants to have fun and forget the problems of everyday life. I love clubs like Space and DC10 but this year I will be a protagonist with Amnesia and Marco Carola, I’m very excited, the terrace of Amnesia I think is one of the most beautiful in the world. I will be with Steve Lawler at the Sankeys, a new club, a little one, where you create an atmosphere very nice…I’ll enjoy it very much.”

Where will be the number one place to hit in Ibiza this summer?

“Not easy to reply to this question. I think Music On at Amnesia will be great, big line up as always and the terrace is the best place in Ibiza right now. But also other parties such Circoloco, Warrior or Fuse at Sankeys will be nice step by step.

What is the craziest party you have ever survived in Ibiza?

“We Love at Space during the first years in ibiza, like 2000 or 2001…wow, one of the best nights in the world, and in the later years I think Circoloco at DC10 is most crazy party.”

Where do escape the madness on the island, where do you enjoy chilling?

“I like being in some pool with friends, or Las Salinas near to Trinxa, I love it!!!”

What is the bravest thing you have ever done?

“Loving my woman most of my life…this is the bravest thing I ever did! Believe me.”

What is your greatest weakness?

“Wow, the best question I have ever been asked! Not easy to answer but I think my greatest weakness is the traktor hahahah, I’m joking!”

Your musical tastes are very varied, you love Led Zeppelin and Radiohead as much a Daft Punk or Jeff Mills tune. What is the last great album you listened to?

“Yes, right, my last incredible album is by MODESELKTOR…I love it.”

What is the finest record you have played to a dancefloor?

“Ocatave One ‘Blackwater’.”

Where are the big festivals we can find you this summer?

“Sonar in Barcelona.”

In the past you have made movies, music APPS – what is the next creative output coming from you?

“I’m trying to make my site, which will sell my music preview and I’ll have direct contact with my fans, like Facebook!”

What country around the world has the craziest clubbers?

“Italy, UK, and a special city – New York!”

Are there any new plans in the studio for you coming up?

“I have a new EP on Saved with my friend Toky, an EP with my brother Pirupa on Get Physical and trying to finish my next Cecille EP.”
