Ibiza 2012 Special

What is your favourite memory of Ibiza 2012?

“My holiday with the family, very chilled-out!”

Tune of the summer?

“Stefano Amalfi/ Robbie Groove “Twerk it Out”, works everytime!”

Most overplayed record of the summer?

“Not sure to be honest, I haven’t been out enough to hear what other people have been playing.”

Favourite resident DJ on the island?

“Les Schmitz from Amnesia for being a nice guy and playing good music.”

Why is Ibiza still the best party location in the world?

“Because that’s where the best clubs in the world are, with people who care about music, great Djs, sun and sea. What more could you want?”

Ibiza is now split straight down the middle with serious DJs spinning quality house and techno on one side, and DJs playing the big room bangers on the other. Discuss…

“The big room DJs are playing what they love and their sound happens to be commercially viable at this moment in time, but if your not into that sound, house, techno and tech house is there for the more decerning clubber who doesn’t like following the masses. The latter is more for me.” smile

What new party caused the biggest splash in their debut summer this year? And why?

“I think Ushuaia is still causing the most impact as the new kids on the block, some great nights and always packed. They get up to 5000 people dancing outside by the pool in the sun, its very Ibiza!”

Favourite restaurant and beach in Ibiza?

“Favourite restaurant is Leo’s. They serve great food and have the best entertainment any restaurant has to offer but be prepared to get your wallet out. Favourite beach is still Cala Vadella but it can’t get a little busy during August time.”

Do you think the 123 Rocktronic Festival that featured the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Elton John, Sting, David Guetta and Tiesto this year is an important addition to the Ibiza summer, or do you think it is a case of one too many party on an already bulging season?

“Anything new on the island is always good. It keeps the whole island interesting, innovative and ground breaking. There is something on the island for everyone and that is what makes Ibiza so special.”

What is the one record that will always remind you of Ibiza…?

“Nalin & Kalin “Beachball” from my old raver days.”

Best venue in Ibiza and why?

“The terrace in Amnesia is simply the best in the world. Huge room, amazing sound system and great lighting show. The C02 cannons are ridiculously loud as well.”

A lot of money has been spent on the island in recent years improving things, what do you think is the biggest improvement on the island?

“The roads are much better these days and I think the hotels have improved their quality of service. The Internet connection is still slow though.” frown

What nationality are the craziest people on the dancefloor?

“The British people are still the most up for it in the world, which is strange as the clubs in England are crap these days. How does that work?”

Breakthrough artist of 2012?

“Maceo Plex!”

If you had to pick one person to go out clubbing with in Ibiza, who would it be?

“My wife, as we don’t spend enough time together.”

And finally, tell us about your first trip to the white isle…

“I was only about 20 when I first went to Ibiza. I played a gig at Es Paradis but as I was only there for a day I didn’t really experience the island properly. The first time I really got to know the island is when I started running my weekly Koolwaters nights at Eden.”
