Max Freegrant

Hey Max, thanks for chatting to us here at DMC! For readers who may not know who you are, can you explain a bit more about yourself?

Hey guys! Thanks for having me! Of course, it started over 10 years ago at my hometown, Pryluky in Ukraine.  I went from the local DJ in the area to a well respective progressive house producer in the Eastern side of Europe!

How would you describe your music?

“A fusion of trance, house and progressive, it’s an effective showcase of what Freegrant and his record label does best” – Mixmag (!!)

Your previous releases have been released on the likes of Toolroom, Anjunabeats, and Black Hole. Can you tell us about your own imprint, Freegrant Music?

Freegrant Music is one of the leading progressive house label around at the moment. With a huge list of big artists of the genre like Stan Kolev, Lunar Plane, Matan Caspi, Space Motion, Jerome Isma-Ae, Miss Monique, Max Freegrant, Kamilo Sanclemente, Andre Sobota, Rick Pier O’Neil, Paul Thomas, Juan Deminicis, Da Fresh and more, we hit the top 15 best-selling Progressive House labels on Beatport last year and we hope to continue to grow. Keep the eyes out for our team!

Your new track, Nazar has just been released on your label. Tell us where the inspiration came from?

I was inspired by my little son, Nazar as is titles as his name. This one-year-old baby is a total inspiration.

Tell is who you’ve collaborated with?

I’ve collaborated with well-known artists such as Jerome Isma-Ae, Stan Kolev, Paul Thomas, Sebastian Krieg, Adam K, Andre Sobota and many others – they’re all great

You describe your music as “A fusion of trance, house and progressive”, who are your favorite artists in this realm?

My favorite artists are Jerome Isma-Ae, Eric Prydz, Stan Kolev, Guy J and Dirty South.

Have you always been a fan of Jerome Isma-Ae music?

Yes! Jerome was always an example to me. His music taste showed me the right way as a producer. I am very proud that I had the opportunity to work with him and we made collab called “Thrill Me”. His music is like expensive wine in progressive house genre!

Tell us your top 5 songs you’re listening to at the moment?

Tomi H ft. TOMI – Want To Go (Original Mix)

Tinlicker – Vanishing (Dosem Extended Mix)

Matan Caspi – Behind You (Rick Pier O’Neil Remix)

Alex O’Rion – L’Arbre Des Contes (Original Mix)

Antrim – Desire (Original Mix)

What keeps you motivated to keep making music?

I can’t say for sure what motivates me, but I can confidently say that I can’t imagine my life without music and without creating it. Every year I have less and less time to create music because a lot of time is spent on business, family and other things, but at the same time, I can’t stop because I do it for fun. But when I get results in sales and streams, it shows that my music is interesting to people.

Have you got any tips for aspiring DJs/Producers?

The main thing is to make music that you like. No need to follow trends and do it for money. If you make quality music, sooner or later you will succeed. Do it with love and everything will be fine.

What’s next for Max Freegrant?

In the near future, I plan to release several collaborations with Kamilo Sanclemente and Slow Fish. I’m also waiting for few remixes from Stan Kolev and Subandrio for my tracks, these will be released on Freegrant Music. There are a lot of goals and plans set for this year, so I recommend following me and our label in socials.
