Nick Talos

Having worked on tracks for The ScriptEllie Goulding and Craig David to name a few, and performed at Ultra and Sziget festival, Nick Talos is already an established DJ, with his own songs accumulating tens of millions of streams worldwide. We check in with the main man as he releases his new single ‘Looking For Love’ featuring the incredible vocal talents of British singer songwriter and professional footballer Chelcee Grimes…

Hey Nick, a huge welcome to DMCWORLD. Tell us a bit about your background, what started your musical journey would you say?

I started to attend piano lessons when I was 10 years old. I took lessons for 8 years. When I graduated from high school and moved to the US for a year, I started producing music on my computer. I think my mom played a huge role because we started taking piano lessons together and who knows if I would have started producing without such a background.

What was the inspiration behind ‘Looking To Love’, did you know what you wanted to write about before you started?

The song was a pretty natural process. Nobody exactly knew where that track could go. So everybody just went with the vibe. I think it’s important to mention though, that I started producing the version after the actual song was finished on top of a different beat. That makes the song kinda interesting I guess.

How did you and Chelcee connect? Were you aware of her work before you guys met?

My friend and songwriter legend Lucas Secon connected us – he suggested I should work with her. I’m glad I did. Chelcee is incredibly talented. She is celebrating another #1 Album with Dua Lipa as a songwriter at the moment.

Do you prefer to collaborate with artists on tracks or do you often work on tracks on your own?

I like to collaborate – it’s always great to have many talented people sharing their vision and creativity.

What you’re favourite part of DJing live?

That kind of rush you get – it feels incredible to play music in front of people.

Where are some of your favourite venues to play?

Bayfront Park in Miami (during Ultra) at night – it’s something you’ll never forget in your life.

What motivates you in music, what keeps you working on to the next track?

Nobody ever knows what happens to a certain song – that’s so exciting.

What can we expect from you in the latter part of 2020?

Music I love – I’ll release original music, remixes and free downloads. Because live music won’t play a huge role this year there will be more music instead.
