What’s the best night out you’ve ever had?
New Years Eve in Montreal in 1997 (I think..) It was a bit more than a night out. I think it lasted 3 days.

My DEVO hat that I got from their concert in 1981. I was 11.
What is your life philosophy?
To try and appreciate what I already have. You can always want more but more is never enough.
What is in your pockets?
A blue travel card. I got these great Indigo jeans in Tokyo but they turn everything they touch- including me- blue.
If you were an animal what animal would you be and why?
A fish. I just went diving for the first time recently and saw some of the coolest fish down there. All decked out in day glo like the kids at the Cock.
You are having a party whom, dead or alive is on the guest list?
All of my friends and Divine.
When was the last time that you embarrassed yourself?
At this restaurant in Hong Kong. I ordered this award winning tart and it came with this slimy kind of jelly on top. I didn’t know what it was so I just scooped it off on my plate.The waitress came by and was shocked and told me that it was very expensive “birds nest”. Such a tourist. I scooped up the slime and ate it and afterwards asked what exactly “birds nest” is? Sparrow saliva, of course… I’m glad the events happened in that order.
Tell us something that we don’t know about Tom Stephan?
I’m a saint. Seriously. When I was a student I made a short documentary about the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence – an order of gay, male nuns based in San Francisco. The Sisters loved the film so much that they made me an honorary saint.
