It took a long time to finally come up with an anthem for DLDK. I wanted to craft up something that had a lot of energy and emotion in it, because it wouldn’t be an anthem otherwise. The break and vocals are quite simple, yet catchy, while the drop is a real party. To me, this is a good mix between emotions and party, because it ultimately reflects my identity as a DJ and returns in my sets. I love emotion in music
Loved the video – who was behind the direction?
Actually, I came up the whole idea of the video myself. It was produced by Soulvision though.
‘Get It Up’ is the Official Don’t Let Daddy Know 2016 anthem. What are the plans for your party which is taking over the world right now…
I’ve got a lot of plans for it! I’m looking to launch many more international shows and, of course, the first outdoor event in the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. DLDK Music Festival is going to be the next BIG thing!
You recently took DLDK to Scotland and The Royal Highland Centre, one of the craziest places anywhere!! How was it?
CRAZY! The Scottish crowd is WILD! Truly a night to remember. I hope to be back there soon.
What are the 3 big new tunes in your box this weekend…
- Mantra by Axwell. I love the tropical groove sound.
- The KSHMR VIP REMIX of Touch. It’s something new and fresh; I love the vibe.
- Never Let You Go by Third Party & Sem Vox. This is my next release, together with Third Party. And it’s coming soon on DLDK Music as well!

When we last spoke I asked you whether you would ever be returning to Ibiza and you said “maybe but NEVER with Don’t Let Daddy Know’. Any developments?
I love Ibiza and I hope to play there again soon! But DLDK became too big for club shows. The only possible venue for DLDK in Ibiza is Ushuaïa, but we’ll just have to wait and see…
You teased us on Facebook by saying… “Been working on a lot of new things for the year”…what can you reveal now?
I just released ‘Get It Up’ and my collab with Third Party is next. But besides that, I have so much more music ready to be released.
How does Sem Vox chill out away from the music?
Music is my chill-out. But apart from that, it’s football, kickboxing, and tennis.
It’s your birthday – 3 DJs you invite to play at your party?
I’d have to invite Steve Angello, Third Party, and Martin Garrix, a good friend of mine.
Your fans are so devoted to DLDK. What is the craziest lengths a clubber has gone to be there that you have heard…or maybe there is someone who is officially your Super Fan? Haha!
Lately, I seem to be getting more and more fans. People with flags and signs with my name on it, which is really great to see! My Instagram messages are full of people who would like to meet me.

There are too much DJs who never became number one and they have been my idols for such a long time. I don’t care about being number one or not. I just want to make fun and enjoy making and playing music all over the world.
