Trainspotting with Congellous

Congellous, aka Stanley T Jones, grew up in Anglesey, North Wales where he was a member of a professional B-Boy crew. He cut his teeth on dance music frequenting clubs such as Quadrant Park in Liverpool, The Hacienda, Shelly’s and The Eclipse (89/90). As a producer, Stanley became a part of the Nu School Breaks scene under several guises releasing as Orange Kush on Botchit & Scarper, as Jaguar on TCR and 60 Hz on Second Skin, with many releases under his belt. He has also remixed artists such as King Kooba and Ninja Tunes’ DJ Food and went on to work with (Ex. Kooks) Max Rafferty band. He received support from the likes of DJ Mag, Mixmag, the late Andy Weatherall, Boy George, Mary Anne Hobbs, Tayo and Rob da Bank. As Congellous, Stanley continues to explore the deeper side of Electronica, fusing Deep House grooves and airy Tech flavoured synthology, whilst giving a little wink to yesteryear. He launched his own label Soba Records in 2016, and his releases such as ‘Sputnik 2 EP’, ‘Are We Running Out Of Love’ ft Jess Bishop, ’The Songlines EP’, ‘Tell Me That You Love Me’ and ‘Insominia’, received the thumbs up from Betoko, Booka Shade, Markus Enochson, Maceo Plex, Peter Kruder and many more. As he drops his new single ‘Got To Prove’, DMCWorld goes trainspotting with Congellous.

Congellous – Got to Prove – SOBA

The driving bassline, the distant swirling rave sounds and some nice vocal elements it’s energy in a box .

Adam – Mironas – ISOLATE

The way this track just simply builds in stages with great sound quality – excellent.

Gai Barone, Luke Brancaccio – J’aime L’amour  – Selador

I just find this track really uplifting subtle builds and waves. Think it would bring on some pirouettes on the dance floor.

Rich Curtis- Square Root (’21 Salute) – Meanwhile

Love the Bladerunner Esq backgrounds and general feel of optimism – maybe we aren’t all screwed!

MoBlack, Armonica, Dear Humans – The Difference – Frau Blau

Love the tension in this track it’s cool and moody and definitely a great track to pick up the set – a turning point.

Far&High, Dasha Meelo – Mannequin – Diynamic

Yes, chunky, cool, I like the almost broken beat drum sections mixed in with the hypnotic parts – nice!

Jamie Stevens, Anthony Pappa – Here We Go (Framework Remix) – Selador

I’m a sucker for a breakbeat goes well with the triggered bass sounds retro early 90’s sound before rave died.

Sasha, Franky Wah – Haunted – Black Hole Recordings

I’m also a sucker for a reese bassline and a vocal hook so this one got me straight away lovely main breakdown.

Gai Barone, Luke Brancaccio – Little Pictures – Renaissance Records

This deep builder has an otherworldly electronic vibe that creates a tension.

Kinky Sound, Modbit – Connect – Ritual

This has a really punchy almost 80’s feel to the synths and drums, but is brought right up to date.

Congellous ‘Got To Prove’ will be released on Beatport promo on July 15th / Full release July 29th 2022 on SOBA Records.
