Emerging from London’s open decks scene, Filipino-British DJ Arlyss has quickly built a reputation for igniting dance floors across the city, and she makes her debut at Making Moves X Rehab LDN’s International Women’s Day event featuring an Exclusive Guest set from Detroit’s Ash Lauryn on Saturday March 8th.
Known for her vinyl sets rooted in the soulful grooves of Detroit and Chicago’s underground sounds, Arlyss flows seamlessly across disco, proto-house, electro, and acid house, balancing uplifting melodies with darker, hypnotic rhythms. With appearances at House of Groove and Wax n’ Wax you can also catch Arlyss on the radio on Voices & Aaja. Her contagious energy, both behind and in-front of the decks, make her the kind of DJ you want to boogie with long after her set is done.

Released in 1996, Spencer Kincy aka Gemini played this track at Deep In The Flowers in Dallas, and it’s a excellent mix I always go back to. He instantly had me digging for this particular record. It’s a happy-go-lucky tune, and makes me think of all the women making waves on the music scene.

Maya Jane Coles – What They Say – Real Tone Records
Maya was one of the first female DJs I ever saw play back in 2011 in my hometown. The Junk club was a legendary Southampton venue, and one of the only places where promotors booked big DJs, and Maya tore the place down with a full house until the early hours.
