Australia’s Mark Maxwell has carved out a distinctive sonic identity that masterfully weaves disco, house, and tech house with Latin and Afro influences. In the studio, Mark channels the energy of production heavyweights like PAWSA, Chris Lake, and Jamie Jones into his own unique sound. His originals and remixes for Dillon Francis, Odd Mob, and Crooked Colours have caught the attention of global tastemakers, with support flowing from Idris Elba, Solardo, and Gene Farris. His original productions have made serious waves, including the soul-stirring ‘Wade In The Water’ to the chart-dominating ‘Santorini’ and the unstoppable ‘Tracey In My Room’. As his new remix of Random Soul’s ‘Diving’ drops, DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with Mark Maxwell.
Random Soul – Diving (Mark Maxwell Remix) – Random Soul Recordings
I really love doing remixes to explore new sounds and styles and in this case putting the focus on percussion to carry the groove. I really wanted my remix to support Yogi’s pristine vocal and provide a consistent groove that entices you out onto the dance floor for a little boogie.
Shermanology – Ready 2 Go – D’EAUPE
Shermanology are so so dope. They’re one of the most unique acts in house music today and don’t shy away from being so damn catchy! For me this record is all about the confidence, the sass and the strut you get when you hear that upright bass in a dance record!
Castion – Deeper & Deeper – Glasgow Underground
Two syllables with so much punch. The way Castion can turn one word into an entire track is mesmerising. I love the rocky breakdowns laced between the rolling tech house grooves.
Jamie Jones & Miluhska – La Musa (Adam Ten & Rafael Extended Remix)
Can you have a crush on a record? This is so incredibly sexy. That moment in the middle where we’ve had a crescendo and then the energy is reset back to zero as if the song had started over again is magical – Round 2.
Kris Ramea – Raw Uncut – Souluxe Record Co
When a record makes you instantly want to 1-2 step, you know it’s a vibe. The instrumental is gold but it’s even better topped off with the vibey vocals!
The Coney Island Rhythm Band – Let’s Be Together – Vicious
We all know and love Nineties’ Finder – An undeniable classic record that has stood the test of time. This inspired version is lush. Additional vocals, party samples and electric bass has made this song super playable.
Trimtone – You Got The Love Boy – Motive Records
I first head this on the socials and I immediately had to go and grab a copy. It’s not often that a record does that! Classic disco vocals paired with a thumping kick and a few pretty bits sprinkled over the top to tie it all together.
Cara Murphy – Dusk – Valiant
Dusk is a bit left field for me but I’m so in love with what Cara has created. It’s a journey, it’s evolving and it could be on a soundtrack. Dusk is deep and enticing and just pulls you in. I don’t know if this would better suit 6am or 6pm in the middle of a forest somewhere.
Paul Mondot – Jacking Boogie – Crypto Ravers
My brother had the Pulp Fiction soundtrack on CD and I listened to it so much for how old I was. It wasn’t years later that I actually saw the movie!!! Anyway this is the remake you didn’t realise you needed. File it next to Kyle Watson’s remix of Low Rider!
Mark Maxwell – I Like To Party – Club Sweat
We all know Make Luv needed a reboot! If PAWSA doesn’t play this, I don’t know what I’ll do…
