Trainspotting with Melle Brown

As one of the most promising producer/DJs in the house scene to emerge of late, Melle Brown delivers glimmering dance groovers across her catalogue and DJ mixes. Since its debut in June, ‘Feel About You (ft. Annie Mac)’ has been circulating nationwide on the major BBC radio stations and beyond.  Her previous singles such as ‘One More Chance’ (via Monki’s &Friends), ‘Brown Eyes (Golden) ft. Angelina & FromLondon’ and the ‘Intersection EP’ (via Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce label) have all received great acclaim and major radio and media support.  A Reprezent Radio resident and regular DJ at Night Tales, this year has seen Melle deliver mixes for BBC Radio 1, Notion, Mixmag, COGO and Electronic Subculture, whilst playing events such as Risen Festival, Lost & Found Festival, Defected: Croatia, Boomtown, Field Day and Spotify Presents: Altar at Printworks. Melle is lining up releases for early 2023. As her hot remix of Mark Knight and Lukas Setto’s ‘Get With You Tonight‘ drops on Love & Other. DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with Melle Brown.

1 Crackazat – Never Ending Love – Nervous Records

Soulful and bumping record! It’s everything I love about Crackazat’s music with an emotional touch in the lyrics.

2 Kerri Chandler – Subbie – Kaoz Theory

I have had this track on repeat since Kerri’s latest album ‘Spaces and Places’ was released. A true masterpiece (like all of his music), with an addictive bassline.

Subbie [Sub Club] (Rattle The Subbie Vocal Mix)

3 Mark Knight (ft. Lucas Setto) – Get With You Tonight (Melle Brown Remix) – Love & Other

This original track is super fun, I loved having the opportunity to remix it into more of a deep house setting. Highlighting the bassline with emotional jazz chords, with Lukas’ voice weaving between the two.

Mark Knight, Lukas Setto - Get With You Tonight (Melle Brown Remix)

4 Children of Zeus – Vibrations –  (Zed Bias Remix) – First Word Records

Oldie but a goodie! Children of Zeus have such captivating music, I love the neo soul tone of the vocals. Zed bias created a stunning downtempo breakbeat inspired remix, which makes the ideal night opener

5 Dbow, Frankie Knuckles, Eric Kupper – Get Involved (Director’s Cut Classic) – SoSure Music

Haven’t been many sets in which I’ve not played this record in across 2022! A classic refashioned, what’s not to love. Love the subtle combination of genres rap and disco.

6 Nubirth – Anytime – XL Recordings

A tune, rave classic… Love the nostalgia in this track and the sample usage. Will be my winter bumper!

7 Sean McCabe – Take It On Up  – Good Vibrations

Another killer bassline with ethereal synths, this one is one of my favourites from Sean McCabe; gets the job done on the dance floor!

8 Honey Dijon (ft. Ramona Renea) – Love Is A State Of Mind  – Classic

Have been loving the whole Black Girl Magic album from Honey Dijion, but this track is a stand out single for me; the vocal mixed with warehouse-esque experimental production makes it a unique listening experience that always perks my ears up.

9 RIP Productions – Oh Baby – Ice Cream Records

A record I found recently digging through old garage cuts. I’m obsessed with releases on Ice Cream Records but this one is a true gem. So emotional but deep with layered samples and thumping drums. On repeat at the moment.

10 COEO – Sorry For The Late Reply  – Toy Tonics

Disco bumping with stunning violin melodies, how can you not love what you hear. A super fun track that I’ve loved playing at festivals this year.

Mark Knight x Lukas Setto ‘Get With You Tonight‘ (Melle Brown, Jay Vegas, Sgt Slick and Mark Knight Remixes) is out now on Love & Other.
