Trainspotting with Opolopo

Swedish producer Opolopo’s music has graced a lot of labels over the past 2 decades, including Local Talk, JVC Japan, Z Records, Toolroom, Warner Brothers, Tru Thoughts, Sony/BMG, and Defected, among others. Whether it’s House, Boogie, Broken Beat, Funk or Soul, his compositions and productions are always uncompromising with a steady gaze on the horizon and a quick glance in the rear-view mirror. His collaborations and remixes include Grammy nominated vocalist Gregory Porter, Omar, Steve Arrington, Lisa Stansfield, Shaun Escoffery, The Sunburst Band, Mario Biondi, Angela Johnson, and Dexter Wansel, to name a few. As his new remix of Mannix feat. Lisa Shaw – So Much Time drops on Dafia Records, DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with the mighty Opolopo.

1 Mannix feat. Lisa Shaw – So Much Time (OPOLOPO Remix) Dafia Records

My latest remix featuring the iconic voice of Lisa Shaw. A bit of boogie with slight touches of, dare I say it, Jazz Funk.

2 Dave & Omar – Starlight (Extended Album Mix) – Z Records

Distinguished Disco and Boogie torchbearer, Dave Lee, has teamed up with the always flawless Omar for a timeless Boogie number.

Dave & Omar - Starlight

3 Floyd D – Sunshine feat. Noluthando Meje (BrokenSoul Mix) – Chymamusiq Records

South Africa has so much talent when it comes to the laid back but still deep and soulful flavours. Lovely keys and chords with refreshingly non auto tuned vocals.

4 Langa Music – Lifetime (Original  Vocal Mix) – Broadcite Music

Brazilian feelgood summer vibes from South Africa. The right latin spices, a lovingly slapped bass and a massive tempo change to finish it off – what’s not to love.

5 Wipe the Needle ft. Sacha Williamson – On Time (Original Version) – Z Records

Soulful broken beat from Wipe The Needle featuring the amazing Sacha Williams, who I’ve also been fortunate to work with on a few occasions. Sacha always delivers the goods!

6 Cor.Ece – Possibly Impossible (Crackazat Remix) – Razor-N-Tape

Killer soulful and deep remix by Crackazat. A very tasteful flip of the original taking it to a more vibey and jazzy place.

7 Frank McComb – Listen To Your Heart (Laroye Remix) – Makin Moves

This 22 year old track was beautifully remixed by Wipe The Needle a few years ago but Laroye managed to again breathe some new life into it this year.

8 Hannah Khemoh – Queen (Sean McCabe and Black Sonix Vocal Mix) – Good Vibrations Music

Hannah Khemoh (one half of the HanLei power duo) delivers another stunning performance in a deep and soulful setting.

9 Tiptoes – Tape Crusades, Pt. 1 – Moment Cinetique

Dusty and bouncy with some nice sample work. Check out the whole Tape Crusades 3 track EP.

10 Daniel Maunick – A Second Chance – Far Out

Dark, moody and dirty. Daniel Maunick is always off centre, unique and interesting.
