Trainspotting with Steve Mac

Plus WIN a copy of his new ‘Mac’s House’ Loopmasters producer pack

1. The Unknown – Ghetto Party – Black Rock Recordings
The first release on my new label Black Rock Recordings. This record is loud and dirty, very good use of a brass sample, big for me.

2. Cajmere, Sonny Fodera – Your’e The One  – Cajual Records
Green Velvet can never do wrong in my eyes. Love the slow groove and simple vocal hook – a winner.

3.  Bicep – Visions Of Love (C2 edit) KMS Records
Classic house with Carl Craig on edit duties. Anthem. Hands in the air moment. Love this record

4. Jupiter Jazz – Shake It Mama (Maceo Plex and Danny Daze remix) Ellum Audio
Classic Roger Trout Man sample remixed by the asters of the underground right now.

5. The Unknown – The Piano Song . Black Rock Recordings
Double a side release from my new imprint Black Rock Recordings. Simple track, skippy 909 beats with a big piano riff. Tested and drops like a bomb.

6. FCL Its you MK Mix – Defected Records
We all know this is a massive record, just love the vocal and the Don MK on remix duties, can’t go wrong.

7. Steve Lawyer  – Avaida (The Organ Track) – Viva Music
I was at IMS Ibiza and went to watch Steve at Sankeys, he dropped this and it tore the roof off. Viva music are putting some great music out at the moment.

8. Maya Jane Coles feat Karin Park  – Everything –  I/AM/ME
Great deep house track from lady of the moment, love the vocals on this track.

9. Mandyngo feat Jerry Clavier Glad To Know Ya –  Black Rock Recordings
Second release from my new imprint Black Rock, this will be dropping in the summer. slice of deep house with a good strong male vocal, proper house music baby.

10. Jimpster – Roller Girl – Freerange Records
Jimpster on top form doing what he does, this reminds me a little of Giorgio Moroder ‘The Chase’.

The Mac Is Back!

It’s been 2 years since the Roots album and his return is significant; a double A side EP and importantly, a new label and a new publishing company….with a difference. Steve says “Black Rock Records and Black Rock Publishing are about giving something back to an industry that’s given me so much. The house music community is full of talent that goes undeveloped, poorly directed and without reward. We wanted to deliver quality music from a group of artists that get looked after with the kind of care and attention sometimes lacking from larger companies. We will give every artist we sign a remix from me, hands on production support and disciplined focus on getting their royalties paid.”

Steve has enlisted the advice of Mark Lawrence from PRS for Music, “I have been working with Mark from PRS for a couple of years to help him develop the Amplify initiative that has been so warmly received by the dance community. We quickly realised we had a lot in common; music, people, ideas and values. It made sense to get Mark’s help to make sure we did everything ‘right’ with everyone’s rights and everyone’s royalties.

What about the music?

“We wanted to make the music we loved in the 90s, with a style that takes house music forward. I haven’t been this excited in years. The reaction has been amazing”

Ghetto EP is due for release in July on Black Rock Records. For more details or demo submissions, contact via email: admin@blackrockmusic.eu
